House rules

1. 1Using the pool

   • IMPORTANT: Always lock the garden gates so that children from neighbouring houses cannot reach the pool unnoticed.
   • CAUTION: The tiles around the pool can become slippery when wet.
   • Children under 12 MUST be accompanied by an adult.
   • Please do not use glasses, glass bottles, other breakable items or electrical devices at the pool. Plastic tableware is in the kitchen cupboard.
   • Please shower before entering the pool.
   • Do not use soap, shampoo or any other cleaning products in the pool.
   • To keep the water at a pleasant temperature, please cover the pool with the pool cover after use and especially overnight.

2. 2Wind – Lanzarote can be very windy

   • Please lower the backrests of the sun loungers after use and close the parasol at the terrace table.
   • Keep the room doors closed where possible and avoid draughts – otherwise doors and windows slam shut.

3. 3Waste disposal

   • Please dispose of waste REGULARLY – rubbish left standing attracts vermin.
   • Put waste into the matching container. Waste is separated into food waste, paper, plastic/metal/cans and glass.
   • The bins are outside the complex: turn right out of the big gate, then take the first street on the left – the bins are on the right-hand side.

4. 4Drinking water

   • We recommend that you do NOT drink the tap water.
   • Reports on water quality on Lanzarote are contradictory, so use tap water only for washing and cleaning. For drinking and cooking we use bottled water from the supermarket, where large bottles are inexpensive.

5. 5Garden and terrace

   • Please do not step into the flower beds so the plants are not damaged.
   • Ball games are not allowed on the terrace.
   • Please keep the barbecue area clean – food scraps attract vermin.
   • Dispose of charcoal properly. CAUTION: hot ash is a fire hazard.
   • The switch for the string lights is on the stone plinth between the terrace and the driveway gate.

6. 6Kitchen

   • Nothing may be placed on top of the microwave while it is running.
   • The toaster must not be used standing on the microwave – fire hazard.

7. 7Smoking is only permitted outdoors

9. 9Parties and events are not allowed

10. 10Quiet hours: 22:00–08:00

    • During these hours, music, loud conversation and any other noise inside the house, on the terrace and at the pool must be kept at a level that does not disturb the neighbours.

11. 11Keys

    • CAUTION: While you are in the house, keep the pool door unlocked – otherwise you can easily lock yourself out if the front door slams behind you.
    • If that happens, there is a spare key in the key box. This key with the wooden fob must always stay in the key box.
    • If a key is lost, we will charge you for cutting a replacement.

12. 12Check-out

    • Please leave the house by 10:00 on the day of departure.
    • Please leave the house clean and tidy.

13. 13Washing machine

    • The washing machine is in the small storage room at the back of the house. After washing, please leave the machine itself slightly open so it can dry out.

14. 14When leaving the complex, ALWAYS close the pedestrian gate behind you

15. 15Parking

    • Either in the designated space on the property or in the parking spaces in front of the main gate to the complex.
    • Please do NOT park on the street directly in front of the house.
